Infant Massage

$125 per family

In August of 2013, I completed my training to become an Infant Massage Instructor. In accordance with the International Association of Infant Massage (IAIM) and Infant Massage USA standards, my classes are based upon the methods and techniques outlined in Vimala McClure's Infant Massage: A Handbook for Loving Parents. These classes focus on the principles of bonding and attachment, encouragement and empowerment, as well as positioning and technique. Both parents are highly encouraged to participate although it is not required. Some benefits of infant massage are (and not limited to):

Stimulates circulatory system, digestive system, hormonal system, immune system, lymphatic system, nervous system, respiratory system, vestibular system, language development, learning ability, muscular development and tone, growth, elimination, and mind/body awareness. Massage induced relaxation can improve sleep patterns, increase flexibility, regulate behavioral states, improve self-regulation, as well as reduce stress levels and stress hormones. Infant massage can also relieve physical discomforts associated with gas, colic, constipation, elimination, gastrointestinal cramping, excessive mucus, growing pains, teething, and physical and psychological tension. The one-on-one interaction of infant massage promotes bonding, secure attachment, communication, quality time, feelings of respect and love, use of all the senses, empathy and imitation. More specific benefits are also noted for adopted babies, special needs babies, infants with colic and/or reflux, adolescent caregivers, as well as parents and/or babies suffering from depression.

Our small groups range in size from 3- 8 babies (10 months and younger) and their caregivers. This series consists of 5 one hour training classes with 1 class reserved for make-up. These classes allow the participants to learn the massage techniques, bond with their child and interact and connect with other parents.

These classes are held in the privacy of your own home and would be appropriate for children of all ages. They can be tailored in time and frequency to fit the needs of the family.
